PONGAL — 2016 SPECIAL HANDLOOM EXHIBITION
As per the guidelines of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in the eve of Pongal 2016 special Handloom Expo is being organized at C.P.Art Center Main Hall, Eldams Road, Chennai from 30.12.2015 to 05.01.2016. The Exhibition was Inaugurated by Smt. S. Gokula Indira, B.A., B.L., Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles on 30.12.2015 at 11.00 a.m. and announced 40% Rebate for Silk Sarees including the 15% Special Rebate which was announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the upliftment of Silk Weavers in Tamil Nadu.
In this function Thiru Harmander Singh, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi, Smt. G. Latha, I.A.S., Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Thiru K.V. Manoharan, Chairman Co-optex, Thiru T.N. Venkatesh, I.A.S., Managing Director Co-optex and Smt. S. Jayanthi Somasundaram, Vice Chairman were also present on this occasion.
In this exhibition revived traditional Silk Sarees in Handlooms by Co-optex like Kancheepuram, Arani, Thirubhuvanam, Salem, Soft Silk Sarees from Coimbatore were exhibited. The Cotton Sarees from Koorainaadu, Chettinaadu, Coimbatore, Aruppukottai, Dindigul, Madurai, Paramakudi and Trichy were also available in this exhibition along with organic Cotton Sarees. Beautiful Kurthis, JayaKarthiga Sarees for women and Cotton Readymade Shirts, Linen Shirts for men were also exhibited in this Special Handloom Exhibition.
30% Special Rebate of Tamil Nadu Government is available for the Cotton Sarees exhibited in this special exhibition.
