EYES OF MADRAS – PHOTO EXHIBITION

BY THE CHENNAI PHOTOWALK GROUP  AUGUST 18-20, 2017 at CP Art Centre

The Chennai Photowalk Group started in November 2007 has crossed 100 photowalks in the last 10 years. The group has documented Chennai as seen through the lenses of the passionate photographers, young and old, male and female, locals and foreigners.

The photos shot range from historical places to modern malls, street portraits of humans of Chennai, Temples, Churches, Mosques, Theatres which bring back memories of classics screened in the past, birds and animals and so on. Some of the photos bring out the slices of history.

Presently the Chennai Photowalk Group has over 16000 members. The Group conducts its monthly Photowalk on the first and third Sundays of the month in and around Chennai. The no of participants range from 30 to 100 in the walks. The Photos taken are posted in FB page of The ChennaiPhotowalk / Flickr page of CPW.

CPW  in its 10th year of  inception, , to commemorate the 10th Anniversary and coinciding with the Madras Week Celebrations has embarked on conducting a Photo Exhibition ” Eyes of Madras”  at C P Arts Centre, Eldams Road, Teynampet, Chennai 600 018 during August 18-20, 2017. The Exhibition will be open to the public from 11 am to 8 pm. On August 18, 2017, the Exhibition will be inaugurated at 09.30 AM.

The following members have taken the initiative to conduct the Exhibition :

Mr Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan : Chandrachoodan is one of the early photowalkers, and a local history/community archaeology fan. Eyes of Madras show cases the work of 62 Photowalkers, in all age groups. About 100 photographs are displayed in the Exhibition, which brings out the Essence of Madras, as seen through the Eyes and Lenses of these photographers.




Padayatra to Tirumala- Tirupathi

Thirumala Thirupathi Pathayatra Trust (4/13, Aparna Apartments, 4, Balakrishna Street, West Mambalam) has organized a padayatra to Tirumala- Tirupathi from West Mambalam on Oct. 6.

Devotees who are interested to participate in the pathayathra may register their names for garland program to be held at 8 a.m on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Goshala, Kasi Viswanathar Koil Street, West Mambalam.

Sriram (organizer) said that devotees will reach Thiruchannur on Oct. 9 and have darshan of Lord Venakatachalapthy in Tirumala on Oct. 10,

He said that there is no charge for pathayathra. The Trust will provide food and accommodation throughout the journey for devotees.
