Fake Products Caught in Raid

Fake Samsonite products seized from various shops..

The Video Piracy Cell, St. Thomas Mount Unit and Chennai unit I along with Enforcers of Intellectual property rights have been carrying raids are various shops in Chennai about the shop selling fake American Tourister bags. The raid have been carried in three shops S  Foot wear, Dwan foot wear and Neelkanth bag house in Chennai, all dealing in fake American Tourister bags.

During these raids cops seized huge number of bags from each shop. The shops were selling the bags less than half the value of the original bags.

The spokesperson from EIPR, who tipped off the cops and assisted in the raid said, “We have been carrying an investigation regarding the fake bags being circulated in the market. Infact, these raids were carried in five days at three various places. These is not only harming the reputation of American Tourister bags, but also cheating upon the customers.”

Cops arrested three persons in this raid. There were three FIR registered against the three accused. The first two accused were charged under section 51, 65 of copyright act, while the third was charged under section 482, 486 and 420 of Indian Penal code.
