IndiGo emerges winner at the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence, 2016

  • 6E adjudged as the Emerging Company of the year 2016
  • Awards bestowed upon India’s most reputed business houses and individuals for their standards of excellence

Bagging yet another prestigious accolade, country’s youngest and largest growing low cost carrier, IndiGo gets awarded in the category of The Emerging Company of the Year, 2016 at the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence, held in Mumbai this evening. The jury at the ET awards described IndiGo growth trajectory saying – When you lead the industry to greater heights and do it when you are just 10 years old – It’s more than success. Its corporate excellence”.

Bestowing this honor on IndiGo, the jury said, “Even though InterGlobe aviation is a young company, it has set new standards for on- time service and quality in the industry. No wonder it flies more than 4 million passengers every month and alone handles more than half of the total bookings amongst all Indian operators. Its market capitalization dwarfs the nearest competitors many times over and it has become one of the five largest low cost carriers in the word. This is what makes InterGlobe aviation our emerging company of the year.”

This is a second time ET Awards for Corporate Excellence has conferred this honor on IndiGo. IndiGo’s co-founder, Mr. Rahul Bhatia was awarded as Entrepreneur of the Year at ET Awards for Corporate Excellence in October, 2011.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo, said, “The ET Awards for Corporate Excellence is probably the most coveted recognition in the world of business in India, and for us to be recognized a second time is indeed special and humbling. Of course, even after ten years to be recognized as Emerging seems like a long and painful birth. But it’s probably not so amusing as certainly, even after ten years, we seem to be in constant start up mode chasing this massive untapped potential of India! “

“I want to thank the jury for recognizing the hard work that thousands of my colleagues put in every day in a tough business and an even tougher environment. We are far from perfect but I can assure you that we try very hard with an unparalleled honesty of purpose. For us excellence is not a milestone but a long and hard journey in pursuit of it.

Having said that, we are acutely aware that the real jury is the nearly four million customers that experience IndiGo every day in a tough business and an even tougher environment.”
