 Major Vision Screening and Spectacle Distribution for Underprivileged Children by India Vision Institute and Cooper Vision

India Vision Institute (IVI) conducted a vision screening program for 130 underprivileged boys at Government Madrasa I Azam School, Chennai on 22 September.  The screening program is part of Cooper Vision’s One Bright Vision Child Eye Health Program and IVI’s Eye See & I Learn campaign. Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Dewan to the Prince of Arcot, Chennai; Arnab Sarkar, Director, Cooper Vision India; Clive Miller, CEO, Optometry Giving Sight and Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO of India Vision Institute along with an international team from Cooper Vision participated in the vision screening program.During the day, the Cooper Vision team also visited a vision screening camp at a community of daily wagers from the slums of Villivakkam. Subsequently, they went on to distribute 140 spectacles to students at Lady Sivasamy School, Mylapore.

Aside from education it is also affects their development and quality of life. Cooper Vision is glad to support the One Bright Vision Child Eye Health Program project through which IVI provides good vision to children, especially those from underprivileged communities who lack access to quality eye care.”

Through its Eye See & I Learn campaign, IVI has screened the vision of over 23,000 underprivileged children and distributed over 1,400 spectacles across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal. IVI plans to screen over 30,000 disadvantaged children during the remainder of this year.
