Programs for fans to get video replies from athletes @Sportstarweb and test their sports trivia

India, 30 September: Sportstar and Twitter have come together to launch two new initiatives for sports fans who love connecting to athletes on Twitter and enjoy their trivia.

#AskTheStar

This Sunday, Sportstar will launch a Twitter Q&A video series called #AskTheStar where fans will have the opportunity to tweet to @Sportstarweb with a question to an Indian cricketer at the #India500Tests book launch and have the opportunity to have it answered by the player. This will be done with the exclusive Twitter Q&A app.

Following this, Sportstar regularly will tweet an opportunity for fans to ask a question to a player that Sportstar is interviewing, and have the chance to hear directly from them through the Sportstar Twitter account.

Sunday sports quizzing on @Sportstarweb

Sportstar will also be launching a sports quiz which they will conduct on Twitter at 5 pm every Sunday which will involve trivia from current happenings in the world of sport to stories from the Sportstar archives.

This will start at the launch of the #India500Tests book launch this Sunday where fans will be able to participate in a cricket quiz about India’s 500 test matches and stand the chance to win signed copies of the book from Indian cricketers. Some of the questions for this quiz will be asked by sporting stars via the Twitter Cam app on Sunday.

Ayon Sengupta, Editor, Sportstar, said, “We are excited to partner with Twitter to take our readers along with us on this sports storytelling journey across India and around the world. We’re thrilled to be the first sports publication to use the Twitter Q&A app to create a connection between players and fans every week. Sportstar’s archives are a great place for sports trivia and we’re excited to bring this back to our readers in a Sunday quizzing format on Twitter.”

Aneesh Madani, Head of Sports partnerships, Twitter India, said, “Sports fans wake up to Twitter every day to stay in touch with the individuals and institutions they care most about. Sportstar has a rich history of connecting fans to stories in sport and we are delighted to see that they’re taking to Twitter to create programs with proprietary products like the Twitter Q&A app and the Twitter Camera app. We look forward to the Sunday sports quizzes and delightful #AskTheStar moments for fans on Twitter.”
