Coimbatore student wins Australian “Ambassador for Adelaide” study competition

 Chennai born Amanda Michelle Simran of Karunya University, Coimbatore becomes the first Indian Student to win the all-expenses-paid 4-week study tour of Adelaide; receives the honour at an event held in Bangalore

Coimbatore, 26th November 2016: StudyAdelaide, an initiative to attract the best academic talent to study in Australia has announced the winner of their first ever Indian Student for its “Ambassador for Adelaide” program across South India.

The Ambassador for Adelaide competition is an initiative by StudyAdelaide, the nodal body that promotes Adelaide as an international study destination.




The competition received an enthusiastic response from students across South India, with over 4000 valid candidates vying for the title. In the end, it was Ms. Amanda Michelle Simran of Karunya University, Coimbatore who won the tag of “Ambassador for Adelaide”, which carries an all-expenses paid study tour of Adelaide. This tour will allow her to evaluate the opportunities available for studying in Adelaide.

StudyAdelaide sees great potential for students from India to study in South Australia, particularly Adelaide, owing to its salubrious climate, its international appeal, diverse cultural milieu and some of the finest educational institutions in the Australian continent.

The competition which was launched on August 11, 2016 ran through to the end of September 2016. The campaign was divided into two parts; a general competition where candidates were required to watch a video and answer questions to enter a lucky draw, and then a direct student ambassador recruitment process.

The entrants were shortlisted to a hundred finalists who were then invited to provide a short video speech that was uploaded to YouTube. The lucky finalist was interviewed and selected as the winner.

Amanda Michelle Simran has expressed excitement at this opportunity and is looking forward to her trip to Adelaide with great expectations. “ I am delighted to be selected for this honour and am looking forward to my trip to Australia as Ambassador for Adelaide. I have heard so much about Australia This is a dream come true for me since I was really looking at opportunities to study abroad”.
