FREE EYE SCREENING CAMP AND SPECTACLES DISTRIBUTED TO THE GOVT SCHOOL STUDENTS
Lions Club of Central Madras, District 324 A1, are organizing many Eye Screening projects for the benefit of the Community and also School Students in association with Sankara Nethralaya Chennai.
As a part of this program, Sankara Nethralaya doctors recently screened 600+ girl students studying in Lady Wellington Govt Hig.Sec.School, Triplicane, Chennai,600005. During the screening they found 41 girls are having Refractive Errors. and 6 students required further detailed examinations.
These six were referred to the base hospital ,Sankara Nethralaya for further examinations and management,The 41 students were given spectacles during a function held on 9.11.17., at the school premises.
PMJF Lion G.V.Raman, Past District Governor was the Chief Guest and presented the spectacles to the students.
Optometrists from Sankara Nethralaya explained the students how to wear and when to ware the spectacles.They also told them how to maintain the spectacles. Lion. G.V.Raman emphasized the need to wear the spectacles regularly, as this will not only help them to improve the reading skills with more easiness and it will correct the refraction error and prevent further loss in vision. Lion. CT.Natesan Joint Cabinet Secretary, also advised the students not to feel shy or get demotivated by any pressure from the friends.
Earlier,Lion. SR. Muruganandam, President of the club welcomed the Headmistress, Tmt. Eswari Bhoobalan, Teachers and students and thank them for giving an opportunity to L/C Central Madras for organizing this camp at this historical school. Mr.R.Govindaraj, President, ExNora Greater Chennai felicitated Lions Club of Central Madras for organising such health related projects for the benefit of school students. Lion.P.K.Chandrasekaran, Lion. K.Rangarajan, Lion. R.Anbarasan, Lion. M.S.Sasikumar and Dr. G. Vasundara , Mr. J Fatheraj Jain from ExNora Greater Chennai attended the function.
Mr.Chandrakumar, Camp Coordinator and optometrists from Sankara Nethralaya coordinated the program.
