Hindu High School Triplicane Chennai 1965 SSLC Batch Mates-YOU ARE WANTED
The Hindu High School, ( now The Hindu Higher Secondary School ) Big Street, Triplicane is one of the oldest Schools in India, established by the East India Company in the year 1852 with a different name , and renamed “Hindu High School “ in the year 1897, when an L-shaped large School Building was completed. The School has a great tradition and eminent personalities viz. M/S G N Balasubramaniam, Carnatic Vocalist, S Chandrasekhar, Nobel Laureate, Kasthuri Srinivasan, Founder, THE HINDU, etc. happen to be the alumni of this great School. Distinguished men like Sri. Rt. Hon’ble V.S.Srinivasa Sastri served the School as Headmasters. The School Building is now included as one of the Heritage buildings in Tamilnadu.
The 1965 SSLC Batch mates of the School is presently planning to celebrate this year as the Golden Jubilee year of their passing out from the School. A few of the batch mates have joined together and are taking all out efforts to locate their batch friends. The Group, named BAT65, has already enlisted about 100 batch mates residing all over India and outside. The total strength of 1965 batch mates is 437, who studied in 10 sections. A Core Committee of members has been formed not only to devise strategies to trace the remaining friends, but also to chalk out programmes for celebrating the Golden Jubilee, sometime in November/ December 2015, which time is most suitable for participation by USA based batch mates also.
The mouth-watering and emotive prospects of the reunion of the mates is driving the members to go all out to establish contacts with as many mates as possible, so as to provide the opportunity to every one of the batch mates to enjoy the reunion. Presently, maximum number of contacts enlisted belong to A Section, group photo of which is appearing here. Each member has taken up the responsibility of roping in at least 2 or 3 new members. Most of the students were residing in Triplicane and nearby areas and the existing members are scouting the area gathering information to know the where about of the friends.
S.Ramarathinam, who is coordinating the enrolment of Batch mates, has the unique experience of accidentally meeting a stranger, working in a Pillaiyar Temple at Porur, who turned out to be a 1965 batch mate. There are also some, who belong to the batch, but are having reservations and not willing to share information about them. The excitement of meeting the old mates during the reunion and the nostalgia of the School life is acting as a catalyst in establishing contacts of the rest of the batch mates.
The Core Committee members of BAT65 are chalking out programmes for the Golden Jubilee celebrations and under consideration are honouring the two Teachers, who taught the batch and are alive, to bring out a Souvenir on the occasion, to extend financial help to some of the poor and meritoriously deserving students who are presently studying in the school, to provide some funds for improving the infrastructure and facilities of the school etc. The Committee also plan to continue the association of the batch mates, beyond the Golden Jubilee, to render service for social causes.
