“Navarasa” – A musical fund raiser
Walking down memory lane of Sivaji Ganesan films through its songs
As a tribute to the late actor Sivaji Ganesan on his 90th birthday and to raise funds for charity, in association with the Rotary Club of Madras, his family and maestro Anil Srinivasan put together an exciting show titled “Navarasa” recently at Music Academy. The three generations of the Ganesan family were present at the concert.
It was a full house of Sivaji fans and most of them felt that they were reliving the Sivaji era. Thanks to some brilliant work done by Chennai’s world famous Pianist Anil Srinivasan, it was an evening that will be remembered for long through the melodious songs of Nadigar Thilagam’s films.
Two veteran actors Kamal Hassan and Nasser graced the occasion and shared with the audience about their experience and interaction with the Thespian over the years. Anil had put together a medley of 36 songs from the 50’s to the 90’s and although most of the singers who sang them were not even born during that time, rose to the occasion and created magic with their youthful voices. The singers included Andrea, Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi, Aalaap Raju, Sathyaprakash and others.
The President of the Rotary Club of Madras, P.N Mohan welcomed all present and honoured the dignitaries and musicians.
