Technology integrated Community Preventive Healthcare Program
- Apollo Tele Health(ATHS) in association with Landmark group organizes free screening camps
- More than one lakh people benefited from preventive healthcare program.
Apollo Tele Health Services in association with Landmark Group under the CSR initiatives organizes free screening camps under their “GET ACTIVE” program. The program includes assessment of ‘risk factors’ for Non Communicable Disease (NCD), screening using point of care devices testing devices, diet & lifestyle modification counseling and teleconsultation for identified beneficiaries. The program has already finished one year of screening activities in the city of Bengaluru, and now has entered the second phase, which covers three cities Chennai, Bengaluru and Delhi.
Commenting on the preventive health care program, Founder Chairman, Dr. Pratap C Reddy said, “Get Active’ program validates our commitment towards bring healthcare of International standards within the reach of every individual. The joint effort with Landmark for preventive healthcare brought promising results with more than one lakh people screened across three metros. Ms. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, added, “The program not only imparts knowledge on Non Communicable Diseases for promoting prevention and management but also identify population “at risk” for development of diseases. Early identification of unaware diseases reduce morbidity; improve subsequent lifestyle modification and preventive health care which improves quality of life. “
Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) include a broad category of long-term diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD), Stroke and Cancers. NCDs are the primary reasons of mortality and morbidity attributing to more than 63% of all global deaths and middle-income countries like India contribute to 90% of preventable, premature deaths due to NCDs. In India 26 percent probability of deaths between 30 and 70 years are from four main non-communicable diseases (NCDs), like heart attack, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases.
Apollo Tele Health Services as Health Partner with Landmark Group is creating awareness about Non Communicable Disease in the region and taking the initiative to new height. The joint initiative has been designed to screen large-scale communities across geographies. Information and Communication (ICT) tools have been integrated not only to make it more scalable but also to monitor and evaluate vital information from these screening camps. These critical health components are further analyzed to draw various indicators like prevalence of ’at risk’ condition among different age groups, gender, in different socio-economic conditions for further strengthening and expansion of the program.
Non Communicable Diseases screening includes advance confirmatory tests like Lipid profile, HbA1C for blood sugar, Hemoglobin (for woman) for ‘at-risk’ people. These Identified beneficiaries are imparted with ‘Informative Education & Communication’ (IEC) on NCDs through illustrative videos in vernacular language to promote awareness and motivation, Tele-consultation at the camp site with Clinical Experts for early detection of preclinical stage disease and timely intervention to arrest/delay further progression of the condition. The program also includes post intervention follow up using Tele Calling to assess Knowledge, Attitude & Practice (KAP) gap among the beneficiaries and tracking of beneficiaries.
The program envisions improving the quality of life of an individual resulting in reduced expenses through early detection and awareness on NCD and their prevention in the community.
