Lecture by Ms.Haben Girma on 26th November 2016 (Saturday)

Connect Special, at present a digital newsletter, is  a forum which disseminates information, creates awareness, shares thoughts and ideas about disability with an aim to demystify disability and create an inclusive society. We have been conducting events like Cross Connect (a cross word puzzle on People first language); Inclusion – ArtSolution (an expression of solution for some inclusion challenges through art) Chirodance (sign language and dance) braille made easy, an online -selfie on the ramp contest, walk the talk- tracing the path of inclusion in Chennai etc at Besant Nagar beach on car free Sunday mornings. All these, along with the newsletter, have been well received and a momentum created for inclusive society.

Connect Special in partnership with Vidya Sagar (www.vidyasagar.co.in) an  organisation which is doing pioneering work in rehabilitation and inclusion of people with multiple disabilities have invited an internationally acclaimed accessibility leader, Ms. Haben Girma.  She is the first Deaf-blind person to graduate from Harvard Law School.  She has accepted our  invitation to visit Chennai and give  a talk on “Equal Access – for an Inclusive and Progressive Society”. This talk will be held on 26th November between 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at Ramanujam Auditorium, Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Taramani, Chennai.
