World International Girl Child Day
Walk for a VISION 2030.
October 11th is the World International Girl Child Day, so AWARE, a group of motivated volunteers organised a rally in Marina beach for 3km to sensitise the people about the importance of a girl Child.
Rally mainly focused on 6 topics which is found to be a threat for a girl Child:
- Save Girl Child – Protection
- Stop Gender Discrimination
- Stop Child Marriage
- Stop Child Trafficking
- Stop Violence Against Women
- Health & Sanitation.
Walk for a Change to achieve Vision 2030 is an effort to raise young female voices, create a new generation of change makers and promote action for gender equality.
This rally was completely led by the youths who are believed to be a change factor towards these causes .This rally is believed to be a foundation for local organisations concerned with girls’ issues, such as girl’s education, adolescent health, sex trafficking, sexual harassment, and other Rights based organisation, to share their message. Mr. Sandhiyan Coordinator of AWARE spoke about the importance of a girl child and he wanted to add all this in the school syllabus too.
