Ms Mehal P Rathore from Sankara Nethralaya has been awarded the IVI Essilor Optometry Wizard of the Year. The announcement of the winner was made at the final round of the national quiz held in Chennai on November 8.

Finalists at the quiz on November 8 at Shri Prakash Institute of Optometry, Chennai, included Mehal Rathore, Research Optometrist at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, PVN Suharsha, a fourth year IMSC optometry student, University of Hyderabad, and Ketakee Jain, Fellow Optometrist with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, Delhi.

India Vision Institute (IVI) CEO Vinod Daniel said “organizing the national quiz gives IVI immense satisfaction. In addition to vision screening, awareness campaigns, and free spectacles for underprivileged communities across India, education-related activities for optometrists to take Indian Optometry to greater heights are also a priority for us.”




IVI’s national quiz, which was supported by Essilor Vision India Pvt Ltd, has been conceptualized for bringing together students, educators and practitioners as well as promote constant skill and knowledge enhancement,” Mr Daniel noted.

The quiz was conducted in three rounds, with round one being online, a telephonic second round, and the face-to-face final round. The quiz was open to professionals and students in eye care.

The winner was awarded a certificate by IVI and a prize money of INR 10,000. The first runner up, Ms PVN Suharsha received a certificate and prize money of INR 5000. The second runner up, Ms Ketakee Jain, was awarded a certificate and prize money of INR 3000.
