School, Sankalp – The Open School & Learning Centre Mogappair and Shenoy Nagar, KRM School for Special Children, Perambur on a grand note on the theme for 2017 “Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons”at the ICF Silver Jubilee school ground.  In the spirit of this day, we conduct various science related activities with public, school and college students.

SPACE, the pioneer organization working towards the development of science and astronomy in India, has conducted the Astronomy hands-on activities for the students, parents and teachers.  Activities like air rocketry, weigh yourself on different planets, take picture as an astronaut, Safe solar observation, Astronomy quiz and Hydro rocketry launch.

National Science Day is celebrated all over India with great enthusiasm on February 28 every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by the Indian physicist, Dr. Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928. He was the first Indian to get the Nobel Prize in 1930 in the field of science.  National Science Day is celebrated as one of the prominent science festivals in India every year, during which students of various schools and colleges demonstrate motley of science projects as well as national and state science institutions exhibit their latest researches.

The Raman Effect is defined as “a change of wavelength exhibited by some of the radiation scattered in a medium”.  In 1954 Sir C. V. Raman was awarded the highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.

SPACE intends to create an intelligent, analytic mindset in the students by building scientific temperament that ignites the spark of Imagination & Curiosity.  We believe! Early exposure to science and astronomy will give students more opportunities to change their lives by giving them a platform to extract the best out of them.
