New York artists and social entrepreneurs Nicolina J. and Orien McNeill were invited by Shiri Saradha Sakthi Peetam orphanage in Tambaram to conduct life-changing painting program, Hearts of the World.org, with orphan children to inspire them to pursue their wildest dreams and aspirations for life.
The eccentric couple behind Hearts of the World.org are now in Chennai as part of their 105 day, 12,000 km tour throughout India, leaving a trail of joy and inspiration behind them.
Their programs so far have included Delhi, Varanasi, Kolkata, The Sunderbans, Jangal Mahal, and they are now headed to the “Children’s Land” of Auroville for their next workshop.
“We both love India so much because of its infinite beauty and the charm and diversity of it’s people, which is why we chose to come here for our first stop on our five year world tour.” say Orien McNeill, HOTW Project Manager.

During the program, P. Pattarasan painted Kannadasan the legendary poet in his heart and expressed his dream to be a successful poet as well so that he could help to preserve the tamil language by writing the poetry of love. “Children in Chennai are so enthusiastic, full of energy and posses a special, wild kind of spirit. They approached painting, something they had never done before with confidence and an extraordinary, intrinsic talent. We adore Chennai and these special kids and we are excited to return.” Says Nicolina, HOTW founder and Director
Lokayata Art Gallery in Hauz Khas Village, Delhi will host a one night Hearts of the World.org retrospective exhibition (June 20th, 6-9pm) celebrating and sharing the artwork and stories of the diverse children of India as well as selected works from children from across the globe.
