The initiative endeavors to encourage and empower women from across all walks of life, to pursue a non-investment business opportunity as an alternative means of livelihood that can help generate supplementary income and promote domestic savings for their families.
A serial & social entrepreneur, who has fuelled the success of many entrepreneurial ventures in the city, and the founder of River, an NGO, Ms. Madhu Saran, dedicates Mami’s House Of Coffee to all the enterprising women in Chennai on the occasion of International Women’s Day!
Speaking at the launch, Ms Madhu Saran said “If given the right support, encouragement, women friendly environment & opportunity, every woman would go all out to prove her inherent entrepreneurial acumen, and it is not going to be any different for the women entrepreneurs associating themselves with MHC. An initiative like this will not only encourage women to take up enterprising jobs without any hesitation, for want of money as an investment, but once they begin, it will boost their morale & confidence and make them self-reliant and economically independent”.
Welcoming Ms Madhuvanthi Arun, Correspondent and Co-founder of Calibre Educational Foundation and the proprietor of Maham Enterprises, a Media & Arts company, Ms Madhu Saran said, “We are extremely happy to be having Madhuvanthi Arun as the brand ambassador of ‘Mami’s House of Coffee ‘. Being an inspiring, enterprising and empowering women entrepreneur herself, she reflects our core brand values that of being modern in outlook, yet deep rooted in our tradition.
How does it work?
To begin with, Mami’s House of Coffee On Wheels will be collaborating with multiple women self help groups & co-operatives in the state to procure raw materials including milk, coffee seeds, disposable cups etc. Having invested in 25 Mahindra mobile van units, we will begin our pilot project at 5 locations in the city, including T.Nagar, Anna Nagar, OMR, Velachery and Nanganalur.
Who can partner with us?
Women with basic education, good verbal communication and business interest can join us as working partners, taking care of one or more mobile coffee units, along with 2 other woman associates. The viable business model would include their profit shares.
